The “Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana” scheme has been launched by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Damodar Modi ji in July 2015 as a very ambitious scheme for the benefit of farmers.

The main objective of this scheme is to make wide distribution of his water either by creating an irrigation source or by farmers his own source  to promote maximum irrigation area by using that water through micro irrigation system. In order to increase the income of the farmers in agriculture, it is necessary to expand the area by them. That is not possible without proper water management. Micro irrigation system is the most suitable item for proper water management. Through this irrigation method water can be used with maximum efficiency.

Details of Drip Irrigation System for beginners.

Following are the main objectives of PMKSY per drop more crop scheme

  1. To promote micro-irrigation system and expand the area in order to increase the maximum utilization of water throughout the country.
  2. To increase the productivity of crops by using water in the right way.
  3. In high water consuming crops choosing the right irrigation system and getting more yields in water.
  4. To promote fertigation along with micro-irrigation so that increasing fertilizer prices can be worked out in quantity.
  5.  Distributing water through tube well and river lift irrigation and connecting it through micro irrigation system.
  6. To use develop and propagate micro irrigation system in the field of agriculture and horticulture.
  7. Providing new employment opportunities by training unemployed youth for service and maintenance.

Mainly Pradhan Mantri Krishi Irrigation scheme is based on more crop per drop. In this scheme emphasis has also been laid on the creation of water source and to increase the efficiency of that water. Emphasis has been laid on micro irrigation system. Technically, it is also necessary to see the crop of the farmers and what type of system can prove to be more useful according to their requirement.

Pradhan Mantri Krishi Irrigation Yojana per drop more crop lays more emphasis on the fact that more and more water sources should be connected with micro irrigation system and can slow down the pace of the way we are facing the fears of water scarcity. |

In order to promote water saving we have to adopt cluster approach it is very important to cover such crops which have high water consumption like sugarcane, cotton, banana, especially through micro-irrigation. Under this scheme it is very important to include horticulture and pulse crops in micro-irrigation along with high water consuming crops.

It is extremely important to promote micro-irrigation especially in the command area where hydraulic head is available.

Stress has also been laid on promoting the use of liquid fertilizers. Efforts should be made to connect micro irrigation with solar pump. The solar pump itself is a small power house with panel modules for proper head and discharge.

The districts where the ground water level is decreasing they need to be identified and special attention should be given to such places, proper tube wells will have to be covered by micro-irrigation while doing cluster approach.

The maximum grant per beneficiary can be up to 5 hectares of land. Once the grant is received, the next grant beneficiary will be eligible only after seven years.
